Hospitals Not Reporting Errors for Medicare Patients: A Medical Malpractice Warning

Mellino Law Firm

In a study conducted by the Department of Health and Human Services, staff from hospitals that accept Medicare payments onlyreported one out of seven medical errors with Medicare patients.

While many of these medical errors did not hurt patients, some may have long-term effects. But there will be no record of the error because employees reported not knowing what constituted “patient harm,” among other reasons. This increases the chances that a patient will be unable to seek justice. Without the report, it may be difficult to seek justice and the patient may be unable to prove negligence.

While healthcare professionals can provide you the necessary medical care you need, it’s always good to keep your records, observe what they do, and research as much as possibleto identify whether you are receiving adequate and proper care.
